With the power of two bar magnets and a big, fat coil of scatter-wound wire, p90s produce an inimitable rich, barking clarity.

Vintage Alnico III

My respectful Nod to early 50's p90s.
Alnico 3 is the weakest member of the Alnico family. This low power reduces the inductance in the coil, calming the top end frequencies, resulting in warm woody tones from the neck and smooth sustain from the bridge.
Smooth singing voices and exceptional articulation producing a great voice for clean Jazz on a hollow body. Let's not forget though that all p90s are inherently powerful and can easily push the amp when you dig in.

p5

Vintage Alnico V

My late 50's/early 60's p90. Alnico 5 gives the bite and clarity, with present highs and controlled bass.
Hand winding retains the breadth of the EQ spectrum for rich complex tones, resulting in a beast of a pickup, which sounds as beautiful clean as it does dirty.
Great for rock tones and screaming solos. Clarity and power! Its That p90 tone!

Round Staple

Vintage Alnico V

My adaption on the staple style p90.
p90 sound dark and moody because of the steel in them. Staples have no steel and are voiced more like an angry Strat, with more emphasis on the upper register and less push through the mids.
Originals had long rectangular mini Alnico bar poles, these just have round poles to retain more of the aesthetic of standard p90s.
Gives a snappier tone in the neck, great for a particularly warm guitar, or if you are chasing certain tones from yesteryear. Classically paired with a standard p90 in the bridge.
In the bridge offers a more Tele/Hot Strat like tone.

p2

Vintage Alnico II

Alnico 2 has some power in it, but also retains the lower frequencies.
The neck pickup is really thick and dark, while the bridge has a powerful rich voice.
A good choice for really bright guitars or for players who prefer using lighter strings.
A great choice for moody Jazz and Blues tones.

p8

Vintage Alnico VIII

Powerful Alnico 8 magnet adds more aggression and power to the mix.
Higher emphasis on the upper end of the EQ and clear in voice these sound more compressed and focused with plenty of bite.
p90 on steroids, with a short fuse! Great for breaking up a tube amp and upsetting the sound engineer!

Dogear Staple

Vintage Alnico V

My take on the staple style p90 in dogear format.
Exactly the same construction as a Proper Staple, in a different case.
Currently available only for flat top guitars in black or ivory.

Vintage Alnico IV

Alnico 4 is unusual in a p90. Alnico 4 offers almost as much power as Alnico 5, but with a subtle trimming off the top end. As the power increases, so does that barking power you get from a good p90, and this offers the bright, snarling power you can only get from this big fat single coil.
A good choice for that 60s p90 voice from a brighter guitar.

Vintage Alnico V

Lush p90-like tones in a mini-humbucker sized package. Not as dark or powerful as a full sized p90, these give a full, well-rounded single coil voice to a mini-humbucker sized pickup. A Sweet and Articulate pickups, with beautiful clean tones.

Sandcast p90

Sandcast (as opposed to polished) magnets were originally used for p90 & HB pickups. For a more authentic tone.

The rough surface of the magnet unevenly distributes the magnetic field, resulting in a slight smoothing out of the top end.
